Extel revisits its Connect video door entry system and adds QR Codes to share

The Excel Connect 2 is a connected video door entry system. Available on Android and iOS, the mobile application that accompanies it allows you to create QR Codes to share to open the gate and let visitors enter.

Brand of the French group Avidsen specializing in video telephony and gate motorization, Extel offers a new connected video door entry system. Called Connect 2, it naturally takes over from the first Connect of the name in the manufacturer’s catalog. Like its predecessor, the device consists of a roadside panel equipped with a camera and 12 V outputs for a striker and a gate motor, to which is added a wifi-compatible monitor for the interior. It is thus possible to associate a smartphone to it in order to consult the images of the plate and to control the portal remotely, but also to generate QR Codes to send to visitors to facilitate their access.

QR Codes to use as virtual keys

The generation of QR Codes is, it seems, the main novelty of Connect 2. Visitors just have to present them to the panel to open the gate, without the owner of the premises having to intervene. The latter can of course define a period of validity or a maximum number of uses for each QR Code when it is created in the mobile application, available on Android and iOS. A practical system, in particular to allow the postman to enter the property and leave the parcels in front of the door when no one is available to answer the intercom.

Otherwise, the Connect 2 offers identical functionality to its predecessor, except for lower video quality. Extel indeed evokes a CMOS sensor of 650 TVL for the camera of the plate, against 900 TVL for that of the old model. Infrared vision remains relevant for night visits. The monitor, meanwhile, is still limited to 2.4 GHz wifi and we find a 7-inch screen (800 x 480 pixels), internal memory to keep the photos taken by the deck each time it is activated, without forgetting the ringing of 85 dB.

Of course, microphone and loudspeaker are provided on both sides, and the maximum connection distance between the plate and the monitor remains 100 meters. The Excel Connect 2 is already available at the recommended retail price of €299.
