Superheroines and female comic book artists in the spotlight at Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel. On the occasion of International Women’s Rights Day, the Jack Kirby Legacy Gallery, located in the heart of the hotel a stone’s throw from Disneyland Paris, invites you to discover, free of charge, the Women of Marvel exhibition from March 8 to April 20, 2023. An exhibition that highlights Marvel’s most powerful superheroines, as well as the designers and writers who helped create these iconic characters.
Women of Marvel is an exhibition that celebrates the strength, courage and determination of Marvel superheroines. Visitors will be able to discover original works of art, but also characters such as Captain Marvel, Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, Gamora, Sue Storm, Spider-Gwen and many more, put in the spotlight in this exhibition . Note the presence of QR Code installed under each work, giving you access to interviews of the artists in question.
Female comic artists have long been underrepresented in the comics industry. However, Marvel was one of the first comic book publishers to include female cartoonists and writers on their creative team. Women such as Marie Severin, Linda Fite, Ann Nocenti, Louise Simonson and Gail Simone helped create some of the most popular characters in the Marvel Universe.
