Polda Metro Jaya exposed the syndicate TIP Which selling kidneys to Cambodia. A number of people have been named as suspects in cases involving police and immigration officials.

“Until today the team has detained 12 suspects, with details of 9 domestic syndicate suspects who played a role in recruiting, accommodating, managing the victim’s journey, and so on,” said Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto at a press conference at the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters, Jakarta, Friday (20/7/2023).
Aipda M is not part of the syndicate but has helped the TIP suspect to get rid of his tracks. Aipda M was arrested for obstructing the investigation.
The police also arrested an unscrupulous immigration officer on duty at Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali, with the initials AH for abusing his authority. AH received a sum of money by helping arrange the departures of the syndicates.
While the other 9 suspects were victims of organ trafficking practices who were later recruited by an international network, to return to look for prey in their homeland.
And another person with the initials H is a liaison between the victim and the hospital where the transplant was carried out. Police are still hunting for the other perpetrators.
The police said that the syndicate for the criminal act of trafficking in persons (TPPO) for the sale of kidneys in Cambodia had been running since 2019. It is known that the perpetrators earned a turnover of up to IDR 24.4 billion.
1. The Beginning of the Suspect Involved in the Kidney Trafficking Syndicate
One of the TIP suspects, Hanim (41) told that when he first became involved in a kidney selling syndicate in Cambodia. The resident from Subang, West Java, apparently was a former victim of selling a kidney.
Starting in 2018, Hanim was squeezed by bad economic conditions. He also looked for information about selling kidneys on the internet.
“I only saw posts from there that contained the post ‘kidney donor A, B, AB, or O is needed, the conditions are these’ after that I inboxed the account that posted it. After receiving a response I sent the requirements via messenger. After that I was immediately told to rent the broker in the Bojong Gede area,” Hanim told reporters at Polda Metro Jaya, Friday (21/7/2023).
Hanim said the kidney donor process took place in a hospital in Jakarta. However, the stages are many. In addition, the donor must obtain permission from the family if they want to donate a kidney. In fact, his own wife did not agree with the plan.
“After I failed there, then I waited at the broker’s house on the pretext that I talked to the wife of the project worker. After one year I waited there,” added Hanim.
Hanim and the broker decided to leave for Cambodia. Hanim left with 2 of his friends who also wanted to donate their kidneys.
