Curso del Info
The Development Institute (Info) has organized a workshop this Wednesday, in which a hundred people have participated, to explain in detail to companies the new export and import procedures to the United Kingdom, after the exit of this country from the European Union, according to sources from the regional government.
The director of Info, Diego Rodríguez, has pointed out that “the procedures have changed notably due to what we have considered, until the situation is normalized, that it was important to offer specific information given by specialists in customs procedures and management, so that our exporters and importers minimize costs and avoid delays or retentions that harm commercial transactions with such an important client for the Region of Murcia, such as the British market ”.
On January 1, 2021, the trade and cooperation agreement between the European Union and the United Kingdom came into force, proposing a new operational process for the exchange of goods and services, both in classic format and for electronic commerce.
Among other relevant issues, international sales with this country will from now on be considered a third country, with the incorporation of customs and tax procedures that will lead operators to have to re-evaluate their costs, operating times, the management of import and export documents and their tax impact.
The conference was given by Guillermo Rivas-Plata, from the Spanish Association of Foreign Trade Professionals (Acocex), who outlined the main aspects to optimize the processing of the currently required documentation.
Rivas-Plata detailed the new framework of the trade agreement agreed between London and Brussels, while pointing out the pre-customs procedures, phytosanitary controls, accreditation and recognition in the event that the product is not entirely European, taxation and VAT on export and import, as well as the various procedures necessary for the transactions through electronic commerce.
The assistants, among whom there were managers, export, administration and logistics personnel from various productive sectors regional, as well as professionals and freelancers, participated in a debate to solve doubts, contribute their experiences and difficulties.
The Info maintains a Brexit Window open to address the doubts and questions of companies that need advice to face the changes derived from the departure of the United Kingdom from the European Union.
