As part of the programming Exporama, a new summer meeting for contemporary art led by the City of Rennes, the association offers outdoor exhibitions, on easels and rugs, bringing together visual artists from the Rennes area. An artistic, family and friendly event
The association had tried for the first time in 2020, as part of “This summer in Rennes”, to offer events compatible with the health restrictions due to COVID-19. She had organized a series of group exhibitions, outdoors in various places in the city of Rennes: the Fête des Masques. Following the success of these exhibition days, which met the enthusiasm of artists and the public, ART2RENNES reiterates the experience for summer 2021.
4 SUNDAYS OF GROUP EXHIBITIONS IN THE GARDENS OF THE CITY CENTER
For this second edition of summer outdoor exhibitions, ART2RENNES invites visual artists from the Rennes region to invest their works in the squares and gardens of downtown Rennes. Gathered on four summer Sundays, these local artists with varied artistic practices will exhibit their works and will be on site to discuss with the public.
To meet them, the ART2RENNES association invites the Rennes population to meet:
● July 18 in the Thabor gardens
● July 25 Parliament Square
● August 1 in the gardens of the Palais Saint Georges
● August 8 in the Thabor gardens
Free animations, happenings and performances, produced by the artists (participatory works, performances, workshops,
concerts …) will be offered throughout these days in addition to the exhibition, respecting the health instructions and barrier gestures.
A “jam session”, the creation of live graffiti frescoes, will notably take place on July 18 in the gardens of Thabor. On this occasion, nine Rennes artists will each create a fresco on wood panels during the day. These graffiti artists have in common the practice of street art, drawing, illustration.

In parallel with these 4 Sundays of exhibitions, theassociation ART2RENNES offers three permanent exhibitions, also in the open air, which will occupy public spaces in the city of Rennes during the two months of the program.Exporama. To do this, she accompanied 3 artists from Rennes in the production of works and the installation of works of art in iconic places of the
downtown.
Thus, the inhabitants will be able to discover three local artists with The shape of the gaze from Jacques Beun at Thabor, ArchiUrbaine from Coryse Guillaumin at the Saint Georges Palace and Black and White from GIL.S at the Jeu de Paume.

20 prints by Rennes photographer Jacques Beun will be exhibited in the Thabor gardens. These prints come from his photographic series “La forme du Regard”, a series of images produced on the principle of reflection and transparency around the greenhouses of the Thabor garden.
15 prints by photographer Coryse Guillaumin will be exhibited in the gardens of the Palais Saint-Georges. This Rennes photographer is interested in modern architecture and how it accompanies and characterizes our contemporary lives. His
photographs bear witness to a new vision of the urban world. By capturing each place of life, its objective is to arouse a surprise in the viewer.
The sculptor Gil.S invests the Jeu de Paume for a period of two months with his metal works. Made from recycled materials, his sculptures are sometimes figurative, sometimes tending towards abstraction depending on the mood of the moment or the material. Each piece is unique and the reflection of a tension between idea and material. A monumental metal sculpture 3.20m high will be installed in the courtyard of the Cité du Jeu de Paume room, and an exhibition of other works of smaller sizes will be on display on the floor of the Jeu de Palm
A RETROSPECTIVE EXHIBITION TO THE PALM GAME
As in 2020, a retrospective exhibition week of outdoor exhibitions organized throughout the summer will take place from August 16 to 22, in the large room of the Jeu de Paume.
This exhibition will bring together the exhibiting artists during the 4 summer Sundays. It will give visitors the opportunity to rediscover their works and the productions produced during the summer exhibitions. Covered by videographer Florin Balaican (FBM Studio), films will be screened to go back to previous dates in detail.
