“We are happy with the complicity with Mr Pinault”. The mayor of Rennes Nathalie Appéré did not hide her joy during the presentation by Jean-Jacques Aillagon of the exhibition “Black and white in the Pinault collection” at the Jacobins convent. The City of Rennes thus holds a locomotive for its new annual meeting with contemporary art: Exporama.
« This meeting allows you to witness the abundance of art in Rennes, underlines the mayor. We also have the columns of Aurélie de Nemours, the Belvédère des Bouroullec sur la Vilaine, the horse of Jean-Marie Appriou… The exhibition of the Pinault collection will be part of a meeting with 18 exhibition places, but also allow to discover the public space. “
Works in the streets of Rennes
The two exhibitions of the Convent of the Jacobins and of the Beaux-Arts will interact with the programs of various places presenting contemporary art on the territory (the contemporary art centers 40mcube and La Criée, Les Ateliers du Vent, the Frac Bretagne, the Galerie Oniris, Les Champs Libres and Lendroit éditions), as well as those of the many partner associations. Exporama invites you to discover public art during walks linking different exhibition places and allowing you to discover the works in the streets of Rennes.
Free or guided, several tour formats
Self-guided tours will be possible with the Exporama application. Three free guided tours will be offered by registration on www.exporama-rennes.fr: “Contemporary art, garden side”, from Place Sainte-Anne towards the General-de-Gaulle esplanade, crossing the gardens (Thabor , Saint-Georges, etc.); “Contemporary art, riverside” from Place Sainte-Anne to the François-Mitterrand mall; “Contemporary art from the Jacobins convent to the Regional Contemporary Art Fund by bike”, from one museum to another, via the sculptures and frescoes of urban art.
Finally, Carré Rennes offers an urban stroll around 80 shop windows. Each merchant in Carré Rennes has chosen a work, reproduced in an XXL photo in his window.
