In his private meetings with Turkish Airlines, Üstel announced that they had reached an agreement to increase the Ercan-London flights of Anadolu Jet by 2024, to review the price policy and to ensure that passengers can come to Ercan Airport at much more affordable prices.
According to the statement of the Prime Ministry Press and Public Relations Directorate, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel spoke at the event, which was held with the support and participation of Turkish Republic Ambassador to London Osman Koray Ertaş, TRNC London Representative Çimen Keskin and Cyprus Turkish Hoteliers Association President Dimağ Çağıner. Drawing attention to the importance of strengthening the union and moving it forward, he thanked the British Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Commerce, which brought together the participants from different fields of the business world.
In his speech, Üstün said:
“I am very happy to be with my brothers and sisters, who are the honor of the Turkish Cypriot community, who have managed to stand on their own feet, and who have become the strong voice of our country in Europe today.
I want you to know that; As the government, we are working hard to build stronger bridges between our brothers living in England and abroad and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
We don’t just leave it as a word. In our private meetings with Turkish Airlines, we have reached an agreement that Anadolu Jet will increase its Ercan-London flights by 2024, and that the price policy will be reviewed and that our relatives and tourists will be able to come to Ercan Airport at much more affordable prices.
In addition, we took the necessary first steps to create a consortium of Turkish business people living in the UK and business people in the TRNC, to sign a very large joint project in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
As the first step towards this, we will bring together the business world in England and the business people in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in our country in a very short time. I would like to announce both of these issues here.
We will come together more often with our business people who are successful in the tourism sector and abroad, and we will shape the future of our country with the experience and vision they have gained in the outside world.
At this point, it is extremely important to pave the way for Turkish Cypriots living abroad to come to their homeland more easily and more frequently, to offer them economical transportation alternatives, and to use the New Ercan Airport more effectively. We are also working on this issue seriously.
I want it to be known that; The problem of every citizen living abroad is our problem, his problem is our problem. Even though they live far away from their country and homeland, every single one of us who is here is our citizen and our responsibility towards them continues. We look at our brothers living abroad from this perspective and build all our work on this sincere understanding.
We will carry the Turkish Cypriots to the point they deserve in the world, thanks to the relations we have developed in every field, both with our citizens abroad who have had power and a voice in different countries, and with our Motherland Turkey. Let no one doubt that.
I would like to repeat the call made by President Erdoğan to the world at the UN from this hall. We exist and continue to exist all over the world. See this fact and get to know the TRNC.
Our expectations from you on behalf of our people are clear. Get stronger in the countries you are in. Get stronger economically, get stronger politically. Your empowerment is the TRNC’s strengthening in the world. It is the strengthening of the TRNC lobby. It is the strengthening of our voice. A strong diaspora means a strong TRNC.”

The President of the British Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Commerce, Muhammet Yaşarata, in his speech at the event, said;
“I would like to express our deep gratitude to the President of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who made his first visit to the TRNC right after the elections. Mr. President plays a leading role in the UN and other platforms for the promotion of the TRNC.
We know that our biggest support in these promotional activities is the Republic of Turkey and its leader, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and we are fully committed to this belief.
Dear Prime Minister, As the President of the British Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Commerce, we frequently consult with you. On behalf of the Turkish Cypriot community in the UK, we would like to thank you for your interest and concern for us.
Nearly 300,000 Turkish Cypriots live in the UK and this community makes a huge contribution to the UK economy by generating an annual turnover of 7 Billion Pounds.
The fact that Mr. Ahmet Durmus is the Mayor of Bexley with a population of 260 thousand is an indication of how important the Turkish Cypriots have come.
We have big goals to elect two MPs, one for the Labor Party and one for the Conservative Party, to the British Parliament in the upcoming elections.
For this, we do all kinds of material and spiritual work in unity.
I also want to emphasize that. We have been making great efforts in England for years, not only for the Turkish Cypriot diaspora, but also for all Turks to form an effective and successful diaspora. We will continue to spend.”
