Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – The affair surrounding the Expo pavilion in Dubai has made waves: Today the parliamentary groups of the investigative committee of the Stuttgart state parliament want to present their respective final vote. Chairman Jürgen Filius (Greens) said: “Naturally, the conclusion of the individual groups is different, findings are assessed differently.” The responsible department in the green-black state government is the Ministry of Economic Affairs, headed by Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut (CDU).
The SPD had demanded the resignation of the CDU politician, the FDP considered this to be excessive. In mid-March there will be state elections in the southwest. A project company consisting of the Chamber of Engineers, the Freiburg Exhibition Center and the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering and Organization was supposed to finance the pavilion entirely with the help of companies. She had declared it as a project “from business for business”. But because sponsors withdrew their commitments, the country stepped in. The costs for the project, i.e. for the construction and operation of the pavilion as well as for participation in the expo, are now expected to be 15 million euros.
Hoffmeister-Kraut had admitted mistakes in her department in the investigation committee, but no personal responsibility. The Greens had expressed incomprehension about the actions of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the CDU, junior partner in the coalition, defended the head of department.
