An empty shop building was damaged in an explosion in Leeuwarden last night. Local residents heard a loud bang.
The event took place at Brandemeer, in the shopping center of the Bilgaard district.
Police found explosives after the loud bang. This could include heavy fireworks, known as ‘shells’.
The area around the building is cordoned off by police. An explosives expert will secure the shells. Investigations are also being carried out, witness interviews are being carried out and photographs are being collected.
This is not the first explosion at the building. It also happened on Friday, August 2. The police are investigating whether there is a connection between the explosion.
