“Explosive Device Thrown at Russian Consulate in Finland’s Aland Island, Russian Foreign Ministry Demands Justice”

Unidentified people threw an explosive noise device on the territory of the Russian consulate in the city of Mariehamn on the Aland Islands belonging to Finland. This was announced today, May 3, by the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“A group of people threw an explosive noise device, as well as other items, into the territory of the Russian foreign mission,” — stated in the message on the website of the department.

It is specified that the incident occurred on the night of May 1.

The ministry noted that the actions of the vandals directly threatened the life and health of the employees of the Russian diplomatic mission. The building of the consulate suffered material damage.

Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova reported that the Russian side sent a note to the Finnish Foreign Ministry, demanding that measures be taken to bring the perpetrators to justice. Also, the Finnish authorities were required to ensure the proper level of security for employees and property of the Russian consulate in the Aland Islands.
