“Explosive device planted on route of Bulgarian Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev’s cortege: Ministry of Internal Affairs launches investigation”

An explosive device was planted on the way of the cortege of Bulgarian Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev, in connection with which the country’s Ministry of Internal Affairs launched an investigation.

An explosive device was planted on the road near the village of Kovachevtsy, through which Geshev, as part of a cortege, was to go to an event with the participation of junior prosecutors. The bomb was detonated in front of the motorcade, but no one was injured as a result.

Deputy Prosecutor General of Bulgaria Borislav Sarafov said on the air of the channel bTVthat as a result of the explosion a fire column 4-5 meters high was formed, and at the site of the explosion a funnel 30-40 cm deep and almost three meters in diameter was formed.

It was publicly announced that the Prosecutor General of Bulgaria would go to Turkey, so law enforcement officers are checking to see if information about the change in the route of the cortege has been leaked.

At a special briefing, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Bulgaria, Petr Todorov, said that law enforcement officers and investigators are working at the scene, and a headquarters with the participation of law enforcement agencies has been set up to investigate.

In addition, Acting Bulgarian Prime Minister Gilib Donev will hold a meeting on Tuesday, following which action will be taken on the incident.

“It is unacceptable that there is a threat to the life and health of every Bulgarian citizen, our actions will be categorical in order to protect the life and health and property of Bulgarian citizens,” the representative of the Bulgarian Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasized.

So far, the Bulgarian speakers have not reported, in connection with which an attempt could be made on the country’s prosecutor general.
