Explosive Attempted Robbery Causes Significant Damage to Bank Building in Eschbach

Previously unknown perpetrators entered a bank building on Max-Immelmann-Allee in the Breisgau business park in Eschbach around 2 a.m. today, Wednesday (June 14, 2023) and tried to get to the contents of an ATM using several explosives.

The blast caused significant damage to the building.

According to current knowledge, the amount and scope of the damage to property and theft cannot yet be quantified.

Police officers were able to find a package with initially unknown contents near the ATM. This was also explosives, which did not detonate.
For this reason, the defusing service of the State Criminal Police Office in BW had to remove the package and blow it up in a controlled manner.

The unexploded explosives posed a significant health risk for both private individuals and the emergency services deployed.
The building had to be cleared and the danger area was cordoned off over a large area. No people were injured.

In addition to the police, the fire brigade and the rescue service were also deployed.

The Freiburg criminal police (telephone: 0761/882-2880) has started the investigation and is looking for witnesses who have made suspicious perceptions or who can provide information about the incident.
