The nitrogen-oxygen station and the combined auxiliary building were seriously damaged. There are risks of leakage of hydrogen and dispersion of radioactive substances, the NAC noted.
For the second time in a day, the Russian invaders fired at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant from the MLRS. Three “arrivals” were recorded directly to the station site near one of the power units where the nuclear reactor is located, informs NAK Energoatom on Friday, August 5th.
“Rashists seriously damaged the nitrogen-oxygen station and the joint auxiliary building. There are risks of hydrogen leakage and radioactive spraying. The fire danger is high. There are currently no casualties,” the report says.
It is indicated that before the shelling, representatives of Rosatom hurriedly left the station. They probably knew that an attack was being prepared, according to Energoatom.
At the same time, the Ukrainian staff of ZNPP is on site and performs all measures to ensure nuclear and radiation safety and eliminate the consequences of damage.
Recall that the first shelling occurred today around 14:30. Russian military hit a high-voltage line 330 kV GRP of ZNPP autotransformer – Zaporizhzhya TPP. As a result, it was damaged, emergency protection worked at one of the power units, diesel generators turned on. This unit is currently unloaded and offline.
It also became known that residential areas of Energodar were being shelled from the Zaporozhye NPP.
Earlier, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said that the situation at the captured ZNPP is becoming more and more serious every day. At the nuclear power plant all principles of nuclear safety are violated.
