On Thursday evening, explosions rocked the Karaj area, west of Tehran, and while Iran confirmed that it was caused by training, other sources reported that a march targeted a military official.

According to a report from Karaj, successive explosions were heard at around 11 pm on Thursday. These explosions were followed by air defenses firing at what were suspected to be drones. The air defense of the “Tehran Plain” near the Alborz Mountains has been activated.

According to what activists posted on social media, two explosions occurred at two sites belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. It was reported that ambulances were heading to the site of the explosions.

But the Iranian authorities were quick to deny this news and said in a statement that “the landing and take-off of helicopters, anti-aircraft fire and the sounds heard tonight are only related to conducting a maneuver and should not worry the citizens.”

She added, “This maneuver is taking place from Wednesday with the aim of preparing the executive, coordinating and leadership bodies in emergency situations, and the place is a training barracks.”

However, Iranian sources confirmed that a drone attack targeted a car near Azimiya Park in Karaj. The sources suggested that the commander of “Unit 400” of the Revolutionary Guards was in the targeted car.
