Explosions heard in occupied Ukrainian city of Melitopol amid ongoing conflict

Later, the chairman of the movement “We are together with Russia” Vladimir Rogov wrote in the telegram channel that at about 02:00 local time, at least three explosions sounded in the city. According to preliminary data, the air defense system worked, he said.

Later he informedthat the Russian air defense system repelled six HIMARS missiles over Melitopol, there were no casualties. The same was stated in the emergency services of the city.

Melitopol is a city in the Zaporozhye region, occupied at the very beginning of a full-scale war. The Russian service of Radio Liberty, citing unnamed Ukrainian and Russian sources, writesthat it was to Melitopol that Russia transferred command of the southern front after leaving Kherson.

Since the beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion, Melitopol has repeatedly come under fire. One of the last attacks on the city was made on April 2.
