In Russia, two people lost their lives and five were injured in two explosions at the Talinka oil field in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Region on Monday, the administration of the region said.
Medics are taking five injured people to Nyagan hospital. According to preliminary information, their condition is serious.
Eyewitnesses said that cars and the forest caught fire after the explosions, reports “Radio Brīvība”.
According to the local administration, the fire continues on an area of 100 square meters.
The reasons for the explosion are still unknown.
There are more than 400 oil and gas fields in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Region, some of which have been operating since the middle of the last century.
56% of Russian oil is produced in the region.
