Explosion Rocks Hezbollah-controlled Depot in Damascus Countryside

According to the observatory, “the explosion took place inside the warehouse, and violent explosions resounded in the al-Ruhaiba area” in the Damascus countryside.

And he stated that the explosion occurred within a missile and ammunition depot in the “areas of Lebanese Hezbollah domination” in the Qalamoun region, which extends over a rugged border mountain range adjacent to Lebanon, indicating that there were casualties.

For its part, the official media did not provide any news or details about the explosion.

Similar explosions occurred at dawn on Sunday in western Damascus, according to the official Syrian News Agency (SANA), and occurred within missile depots belonging to groups loyal to Iran, which resulted in material damage, according to the Observatory.

“There is no information yet about the nature of the accident, whether the cause was bombing from the air or an operation from the ground,” Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman told AFP at the time.

On August 7, four Syrian soldiers and two fighters loyal to Iran were killed as a result of Israeli raids that targeted military sites and weapons depots in the vicinity of Damascus, according to the Observatory.

Israel rarely confirms carrying out strikes in Syria, but it repeats that it will continue to confront Iran’s attempts, as it says, to consolidate its military presence in Syria.

Syria has been witnessing a bloody conflict since 2011, which has killed about half a million people, caused massive damage to infrastructure, and led to the displacement of millions inside and outside the country.
