Explosion on Rainbow Bridge: No Evidence of Terrorism, FBI Investigates

“There is no evidence at this time that this is an act of terror,” Hochul told reporters. “It was a horrible incident, a car accident, an explosion, but there is currently no proven terrorist link.”

According to multiple sources and a video from US border authorities, a car was driving at a very high speed towards the border on the Rainbow Bridge. It hit a safety barrier and exploded. Two occupants of the car were killed. The FBI immediately launched an investigation into the circumstances.

The incident had to close the bridge. Niagara Falls Nature Park and nearby Buffalo airport were also completely or partially closed.

New York Mayor Eric Adams announced after the explosion that security in the metropolis would be increased. On the eve of the long Thanksgiving weekend, when millions of Americans travel to celebrate with their families, Adams says he doesn’t want to take any chances.
