An eyewitness to the explosion said that he saw ambulances and a crowd of people gathered along the road at about 1 am. According to him, some people scooped buckets of gasoline from a truck on the street to pick it up for themselves.
They note that the explosion occurred at a time when Haiti is struggling with an acute shortage of fuel and rising gas prices.
