Alexandru Costache, head of the ISU Dobrogea operational center, said that the deflagration occurred because of some repairs that would have caused an accumulation of gases. One of the victims was transported to the hospital, and the other two received medical attention on the spot, he added.

The Dobrogea Emergency Situations Inspectorate reported that the firefighters were notified of an explosion at a ship undergoing repairs at the Midia Naval Shipyard. As a result of the explosion, three people were injured, suffering burns on the face. The victims are evaluated by the medical crews who arrived at the scene of the accident.
The ISU stated that the explosion would not have been followed by a fire. According to the first information, the explosion would have originated from a thermal engine. “The ship was anchored at the dock, repairs were being carried out, which is why the explosion occurred. It was an accumulation of gas that ignited and the explosion took place,” said Alexandru Costache, head of the ISU Dobrogea operational center.

According to ISU Dobrogea, of the three people, one was transported to the hospital, and the other two received care on the spot.
