Around 9 p.m., the police were alerted to an explosion in a block of flats in Hässelby beach in the west of Stockholm. Witnesses in the area report a loud bang in connection with the explosion.
– I heard it, and it hit like hell, says a resident of the area in Swedish The evening paper.
It is also not clear what has happened and the police cannot say anything about whether this is connected to recent gang crime.
The explosion is said to have occurred in a stairwell.
The police initially stated that at least one person was injured, before this was updated to say that two were injured. Later, this number was adjusted up to three.
The extent of the damage for the three injured is still unknown on the night of Tuesday, writes SVT.
According to TV4 the national bomb squad is sent to the scene.
Sweden hit by violence
Sweden has recently been hit by a wave of violence. In September alone, nine people were shot and killed in the country. The wave of violence could turn out to be one of the bloodiest in many years. It is not known whether today’s explosion is connected to the recent episodes of violence.

– It sounded like a bomb, a person who lives nearby tells Expressen.
– When I went out on the balcony, a girl came and jumped out and shouted “help me”.
The explosion could also be felt in Rinkeby, which is a couple of kilometers away.
The police state that the homes in the area have been evacuated – a nearby school should be open for residents in the area.
