Explosion in a trullo in the Brindisi region: 55-year-old man trapped under rubble dies – World News

An explosion occurred, possibly due to a gas leak inside a trullo in the country of Cisternino, in the province of Brindisi. Nicola Salatino, who was 55 years old trapped under the rubble, has died. He was from the Bari area and was on holiday in Valle d’Stria with his 53-year-old wife. The woman is hospitalized with a conservative prognosis in the burn center of the Perrino hospital in Brindisi. Salatino would have celebrated his birthday in two days. All efforts to retrieve the man who was trapped in the rubble for more than three hours were in vain.

The explosion happened inside a trulli building. All in all there were four people: the other two, originally from Barletta, were far from the site of the explosion and remained unharmed. Firefighter safety work continues on site.
