Explosion at school during renovation in Oslo

It was the Oslo fire and rescue service that reported the explosion at 9.15 on Tuesday morning.

– An object fell from the attic to the floor below and caused a minor explosion, the police in Oslo write.

It is currently unknown what the object that exploded is.

Workers working on renovating a school building at the bottom of Gyldenløves gate reported whether an explosion had occurred. Two workers were close to the incident, but were not injured.

– We have come there with quite a few cars. An area has been cordoned off and the police bomb squad has arrived, says duty commander Eirik Sundt Fredriksen in the fire service’s 110 exchange to NTB.

The explosion happened at the old Frogner school. The school is said to have been used as a German barracks during the war, and the police are working on the basis that it may be old military goods.

At present, it is not considered dangerous for neighbors or others staying in the area.
