Explosion at home previously secured, link to previous blasts

Someone was later arrested for this, who was then also associated with the threat in Huizen.

Because it is not clear whether there is still a risk of explosion in the house on the Roef, a few houses have been evacuated. The facade of the house where the explosion took place is heavily damaged, police said. The windows were also shattered.

Facade in ruins

The street has been closed off and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service (EOD) is investigating.

After the house on the Roef was closed a week ago, a heavily armed police special unit guarded the street. The police and the Public Prosecution Service would have informed the municipality that there was an ‘immediate danger’.

Monitoring scaled down

In the evening, according to the municipality, ‘the threat picture’ had diminished and the security unit left again. But, so wrote the municipality on its website: “This does not mean that there are no more security measures. There will continue to be stricter surveillance. The police are extra present in the area.”

The mayor then indicated that he did not know the nature of the threat, but said to: NH News: “I have been assured that keeping the houses open can pose a danger to residents and local residents.”

Earlier arrest

On Thursday, a 42-year-old man from The Hague was arrested by the police, which was linked to explosions on Saturday in Hoef and Haag and on Sunday in Tienhoven. The police previously indicated that they were strongly aware that they were related to a conflict in the drug environment.

It was then suspected that the arrested man was also related to the threat around the house on the Roef in Huizen. According to the police, it is not certain whether there is also a connection between last night’s explosion and previous events: “We are certainly looking at that scenario. But we first consider this as an isolated incident that is being investigated.”
