Three Aerostar Bacău employees arrived at the hospital following an explosion that occurred in the hold of an aircraft carrying out maintenance work.

Two of them suffered burns to their hands and faces while the third had a panic attack. It is not yet known why the explosion occurred.
The alarm went off around 12:00. An Aerostar employee announces by calling 112 that an explosion took place in the factory and a worker suffered burns, but also that the fire after the explosion was extinguished by the employees. Arriving at the scene, firefighters found 3 victims.
Andrei Grecu, ISU Bacău: ”We were notified of an explosion in the cargo compartment of an aircraft under repair. There were 3 victims aged 18, 19 and 23”.
Two people were taken to hospital. The third victim suffered a panic attack and refused admission.
Police and ITM investigation
Mirela Romaneţ, Bacău County Hospital: ”Both people suffered burns, fortunately not on a large area of the body, but we can not comment on a diagnosis until the ongoing investigations are completed.”.
Daniel Buftea, spokesman of ITM Bacău: ”It is about 2 employees who entered the hold of a commercial plane in order to disinfect the area. After entering with disinfectants, a loud bang was heard”.
The police and the employees of the Territorial Labor Inspectorate check in what circumstances the incident took place and if all the protection norms were observed.
