The astu’sciences team was able to visit the waste treatment site.
The Valtom is a public authority that takes care of the recovery and treatment of waste in part of Auvergne (Puy-de-Dôme and northern Haute Loire). Valtom has delegated the technical part to the cluster Vernea.

To better understand, here is a video that explains the different waste treatment and recovery techniques (available on the Valtom website or on their Youtube channel):
Other explanatory videos are available on their Youtube channel:
Three sites deal with waste and all are open to the public, schools and businesses:
- Trivalo63 : the sorting center
- Vernea : the multi-sector recovery center, which deals with household waste, bio-waste and green waste

- Puy-Long : non-hazardous waste storage facility, this is the landfill site

In addition to raising awareness, Valtom is implementing other actions such as the provision of garden compost without invoicing.
