Ma Chawee translates to “Yellow River” in Tibetan is the only district named after “Yellow River” in China, this district is located on the northeastern border of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It consists of many expansive grasslands and wetlands.
Incidentally, the wetlands in Ma Qu cover an area of 5.62 million mu (about 2.34 million rai) and earned the nickname “The Kidney of the Yellow River”, Ma Qu has been continuously implementing an integrated environmental protection and restoration project in recent years.
