Since the start of the school year, the editorial staff of France 3 Limousin has decided to offer a series of reports devoted to priority neighborhoods. From Limoges to Guéret, via Brive, we go to meet the inhabitants or the people who work, live and animate these neighborhoods.
North-west of Brive-la-Gaillarde, in Corrèze, the priority district of Tujac spreads out in a somewhat fragmented way over 34 hectares, south of the Corrèze river.
In 2018, 2,668 inhabitants lived in this district (source SIG-ville). The poverty rate, that is to say people who lived on less than 1063 € per month, was almost 48%.
In this district where the majority of buildings date from before the 1970s, the population is mainly young: people under 25 represent more than 35% of the total number of inhabitants.
In the heart of Tujac, on the first floor of one of the buildings, we find theassociation TUCSS (cultural, social and sporting Tujac). This association, which has around forty active volunteers, has existed since 1975. As such, it has become a key player in the district, supported by all the institutions.
Throughout the year, the TUCSS offers entertainment for children, young people and families in the western districts of Brive and the surrounding area.
Wednesday, like everywhere, is children’s day.
