Exploring the Legacy of Picasso: Mohammed bin Rashid Library Launches ‘Picasso Days’ Event

The Mohammed bin Rashid Library launched the “Picasso Days” event, which includes a series of various activities that highlight the legacy of the international artist Pablo Picasso on the anniversary of his birth.

On the sidelines of “Picasso Days,” which began last Wednesday and continues for a week, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation, Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, opened an art exhibition that is part of the event.

The event comes as part of the Mohammed bin Rashid Library’s celebration of great writers, writers and artists, through the monthly “Library Days” program of events, which showcased more than 50 works by visual artists who contributed paintings inspired by the Picasso school of abstract art.

On its first day, the event witnessed wide participation and great interaction from the public and artists, and included a lecture entitled “Psychological Dimensions in Picasso’s Paintings,” in the Mohammed bin Rashid Library Theater, with the participation of the artist Abdul-Jabbar Wais, who reviewed features of Picasso’s biography, and analyzed the painting Guernica, and the artist Mona. Al-Jabali talked about the artistic stages in Picasso’s life, such as the blue and pink stages, while the artist Ali Al-Abdan discussed the meanings of lines in Picasso’s paintings, their psychological dimensions and their influence on his works.

The event also offers an artistic workshop on the art of abstract painting, entitled “Faces from the World of Picasso,” to enhance the artistic skills of the participants and provide them with an opportunity to explore the world of abstract art and learn about its different techniques and methods.

The audience and artists participating in the “Picasso Days” event praised the distinguished organization and the contributions made by the Mohammed bin Rashid Library to support art and creative people, noting that it highlights the great impact of art on society, in addition to introducing new generations to artists and their humanitarian and creative contributions to civilization.
