Exploring the Human Desire for Wholeness: Lecture by Dr. Hilde Debacker in Deventer

DEVENTER – “Just like an animal instinctively licks its wounds, humans also naturally desire to heal wounds and trauma. So we talk about it, with loved ones or with a therapist or spiritual director, or we look for healing in many other ways.”

The Veritas Odd Fellow Lodge in Deventer has organized a lecture cycle under the title ‘Then you better make sense…’. As part of this cycle, Dr. Hilde Debacker (see photo) will give a lecture on Sunday afternoon, March 10, in the Deventer Veritas Odd Fellow Lodge about the human desire for wholeness. Debacker (1972) teaches Eastern philosophy and spirituality at the Academy of Humanities, and is also a compassion trainer and sacred dance teacher. She is particularly interested in the intersection between psychology and (especially Eastern) spirituality and in the blossoming of the heart.

According to Hilde Debacker, the human desire for wholeness goes even deeper than the aspect of emotional healing. It also expresses the desire to close the gap between ourselves and reality, to feel one with the All again, unseparated. It is therefore also a religious desire, to which various spiritual traditions have their own path.

This lecture explores the different aspects of wholeness: what exactly is it? “We also look for directions in various spiritual traditions and transpersonal psychologists such as Jung to bring us closer to the much-desired wholeness.”

The lecture will be held in the Thomas Wildey House of the Veritas Lodge on the Jac. P. Thijsseweg 100 in Deventer. Parking is possible in the parking lot of the Etty Hillesum Lyceum across the street from the Thoms Wildey House. The hall is open from 2:30 PM. Starts at 3 p.m. Closing at 5:00 PM. The entrance fee is €10. Everyone is welcome. Reservations are recommended by telephone 0570-542350 or 0575-523209, or e-mail: geersepmi@gmail.com
