This is a corner of “Gakaza” in the southern sky. The lateral extent of the image is a little less than 1/10 of the apparent diameter of the full moon (field of view is 2.61 x 2.72 arcmin). Most of the objects scattered across the field of view are galaxies, each made up of billions and billions of stars.
The center of the image shows a cluster of galaxies about 2.6 billion light years away. According to the European Space Agency (ESA), the cluster is called 2MASX J05101744-4519179. A galaxy cluster is a huge celestial body that consists of hundreds to thousands of galaxies.
