Exploring the Danube Cycle Path: From Linz to Vienna

The day in Linz begins like yesterday ended: with thunderstorms and rain. Compared to yesterday it has cooled down by 10 degrees, but if the same humidity is to be accommodated in an air of 21 degrees instead of over 30 degrees, then this is not possible and the excess water makes itself felt as enormous mugginess. It feels as if the water is condensing on our skin, which of course is nonsense, but that’s how it feels and can only be halfway dried by the headwind.

All the cyclists who started in Passau on Saturday are probably on their way from Linz to Grein today. We can also observe new developments in the bike travel business: there are many more e-bikes (well, not absolutely necessary on this route) and also families with children and cones. The Danube Cycle Path is no longer only interesting for pensioners, but also for the younger ones and for the younger ones, the e-bike makes sense again, so they can keep up with more sporty parents. Ortlieb is still the market leader for panniers, with red still being the most popular color and the orange Globetrotter special edition, which was quite common a few years ago, is slowly disappearing. And the fact that the cycle tourists don’t mind standing next to each other in groups and blocking the entire cycle path will never change.

All in all, not much going on on a well-known route. We are back in Vienna.
