Remember NFTs, those blockchain-powered collectibles from Web3 that were supposed to transform the world of entertainment?
Two years ago they were all the rage and they did just that, with the Bored Ape Yacht Club leading the group of crypto brothers and the Stoner Cats of Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis making inroads into the Hollywood audience. But then skeptics and cynics spoiled the party, and the crypto winter put much of the NFT market on ice.
NFTs therefore gained a bad reputation and legitimate players were forced to distance themselves from the term, repackaging the technology as “digital tickets” or “digital tokens”. Meanwhile, fascinated by ChatGPT, Silicon Valley turned to the promises of AI.
