The new Ford Bronco has also arrived in Romania, and when I heard that we had the opportunity to test it, I couldn’t say no. The American SUV has been reborn, and we were very curious about what the new generation has to offer.
When it comes to off-roading, there are quite a few cars that are truly capable of handling rough conditions. We can think of models like the Mercedes-Benz G-Class or the Jeep Wrangler, but Ford wants to have a say in this industry. Thus, a famous name was reborn, after an absence of over two decades.
The Ford Bronco is the Blue Oval’s answer to the Jeep Wrangler, which can now also be bought in Romania. Ford decided to bring the Ford Bronco to Europe as well, but in smaller volumes. It is a niche car aimed at a very specific audience. From an aesthetic point of view, the car evokes the style of the original Bronco, with a classic profile, simple lines and round optical blocks, which remind us of the first generation of the American SUV.
The Ford Bronco is available in two versions on the European market
In the European market, the Ford Bronco is available in two versions: Outer Banks and Badlands. Regardless of the trim level chosen, the Ford Bronco comes equipped with the 2.7-liter V6 EcoBoost engine, which produces 335 hp and 563 Nm of maximum engine torque. The cars will get the 10-speed automatic transmission as standard and all-wheel drive, of course.
Designed from the ground up for off-road performance, the new Bronco Outer Banks features a two-speed transfer case. The Badlands trim adds locking front and rear differentials and a front-axle anti-roll bar disconnect system. The car also comes standard with 17-inch wheels and 33-inch tires in the Badlands trim. These things should make the American model a formidable off-road vehicle.
Outer Banks equipment is geared more toward light off-road and paved road use. This trim comes with less aggressive tires and 18-inch wheels, plus it doesn’t have as much protection as the Badlands trim. In addition to the Bronco, we will also have the opportunity to test the Ford Ranger pickup truck.
