Exploring Paris’s Sweet Side: A Visit to Cedric Grolet’s Patisserie du Meurice

The world of tourism has different layers with which to take advantage of everything that a location outside your comfort zone can offer you. Whether it’s the beach, the mountains, a cosmopolitan city or an event that could only be enjoyed from a distance, the possibilities are multiple. One of the busiest types of tourism is gastronomic, trying typical dishes and foods from various corners of the world. And one of the most important places is Paris.

Endowed with a world-renowned culinary culture, the French capital is home to restaurants, cafeterias, boulangeries and all kinds of establishments to sample delicacies. However, one of the areas where the French exceed expectations is in confectionery, giving shelter to master chocolatiers and confectioners of great fame and renown. One of them is Cedric Grolet, who has two luxurious establishments in the city.

The Pâtisserie du Meurice, located next to the Tuileries Garden, at the equidistant point between the Place de la Concorde and the Luvre Museum; It is the place that Carolina Moura, a well-known TikTok user who has more than a million followers, has visited. The influencer has shown the long queue that forms around the establishment, as well as a sample of the exclusive products that serve the Parisian public.

The place works through two systems: one by appointment to collect the products and another to reserve a table inside. This patisserie serves shaped desserts and fruit inspirations, such as blueberries, peaches, tangerines, apricots or figs; as well as biscuits, cakes and melon, strawberry, raspberry or blackberry tartlets. Prices range from 18 euros for an individual false fruit to 90 for a strawberry or raspberry tart.

Fruity and aromatic delights

Moura has chosen to purchase two simple items: a blueberry and a peach, for a total amount of 36 euros. Both are presented in similar ways, with a marzipan coating that gives the shape of the fruit, before moving on to an interior jelly-filled compote. The blueberry one contains a sage ganache, while the peach one is made from verbena, a plant commonly used in infusions. Both are in charge of extolling the fruit fillings.

The video accumulates more than 300,000 views on TikTok, in addition to a multitude of comments commenting on different aspects. “The piece that you have dropped has been two lost euros”, a user has exposed when seeing how a fragment of the outer covering fell from his mouth. “For €18 it can already be good”, expressed another of the answers.
