Concert no. 1394 of the Philharmonic Society of Castelló
In the last two decades of the 18th century, two artists arrived in Naples who promoted a radical change in the tradition of European ballet: Charles Le Picq and Vicent Martín i Soler. In addition to his well-known operas, the Valencian composer composed around 15 ballets, some of which were written in this city, where they were highly successful in their time.
Moonwinds Simfònic, with Joan Enric Lluna as director and the work of musicologist Robin Sansen, recover the music of two of these ballets and present them in concert format. The charm, freshness and high quality of the music by Martín y Soler are present in these two action ballets, which we hope will enter concert halls and opera houses from now on.
