Exploring Manjaro Immutable: The Future of Secure and Reliable Operating Systems for Home and Server Users

Hello, I am the author of Manjaro Immutable.

The immutability does not offer much in terms of security. A traditional malware infection could indeed be prevented, but if the malware or sensitive attacker is inaccessible, it is very difficult to disable it with read-only. Once you have root it is a command and the system is open to you.

For configuration we have a nice overlay and a built-in backup feature, where you can put all your stuff and then it will just be copied on top of the new system when you deploy .

I definitely think that it is the future that cannot be changed, it will not be for everyone, but for simple home and workplace users it is ideal.

Also on the server side, I think positive systems will eventually push out infrastructure-as-code tools like Saltstack and Ansible, because only with a clean reset can you guarantee that the system will run in the exact configuration you want, and you can guarantee that. your infrastructure as code works because you use it for each update to rebuild the entire system.
