Exploring Malaga: A Tale of Sunshine, Surprises, and Spanish Charm

I rolled up the blinds on the window in the morning and squeezed inside out of excitement – the sun is shining outside! We are in Malaga. It’s January. Even the night before, when I got off the plane, I could feel a completely different smell, taste and warmth in the air. The sun shines here 300 days a year, in honor of which Málaga is also called the Costa del Sol, or Coast of the Sun.

On the first night, a funny and curious situation develops in a nearby grocery store. After the flight, our company does not want to go to any bar or restaurant, so we go to inspect the “Carrefour” store 100 meters away. Of course, we take wine, other such local delicacies, fruits, stand in line at the cash register, until at one point the cashier starts talking excitedly in Spanish, waving her hands and pointing to the customers closest to the cash register. Instinct unerringly tells us that it is somehow related to alcoholic beverages, which are not only for us (we have arrived at the store 15 minutes before closing at 11 p.m.). Fortunately, the Spanish guy, who is the first in line, allows three buyers to buy the coveted item in the last two minutes, we give him a verbal thank you and a promise that he has earned a million karma points.

Official sources about Málaga (Spanish – Málaga) say: a port city in the south of Spain, in the autonomous region of Andalusia, in the province of Málaga. The city is located on the Mediterranean coast, on the Costa del Sol.
