During the candlelight tour, the storytellers of the Hoijere House took the visitors to the centuries-old past, introducing them to the events of the evening and the customs of the evening, as well as to the historical interiors and objects of the house, reports Rasa Zālīte, public relations specialist of the Liepāja Museum.
In the second part of the evening, Aina Kalnciema performed compositions by composers from the Baroque period on a copy of the 1685 Dutch instrument – the virginal – which traveled to Liepāja together with the harpsichordist.
Joining the actress Leonarda ķesteri-Kļaviņa, the program also featured two love songs in Old French and Old English from the songbook of Louise Charlotte, Duchess of Courland.
During the concert, the two artists supplemented their performances with stories about the harpsichord, compositions and Louise Charlotte of Brandenburg – Margravine of Brandenburg, Duchess of Kurzeme and Zemgale, wife of Duke Jacob Kettler.
