Exploring Global Cultures and Cuisine: Sharjah International Book Fair features World-renowned Chefs and Cookbooks

Books stimulate readers’ appetite to explore world cultures, arts, customs and dishes, and therefore the Sharjah International Book Fair is keen to meet the aspirations of visitors and enable them to learn about various global cultures and their rich arts, including the art of cooking, as the 42nd session of the exhibition is organized from the first to the 12th of next November. At Expo Center Sharjah, 45 different events, presented by 12 male and female chefs from nine countries.

The most famous chefs, program presenters and cookbook authors from around the world share their expertise and experiences with the exhibition audience within the activities of the Cooking Corner programme, giving visitors the opportunity to taste their recipes and learn about their cooking secrets, in an experience that contributes to enhancing cultural exchange and civilizational dialogue between peoples, as different dishes embody identity. The cultural, historical and human heritage of nations and peoples.

The list of chefs participating in this year’s session includes: Tori True, from the United Kingdom, who is a cookbook author and culinary professor specializing in Indian dishes with more than 20 years of experience, and Ethiopian chef Yohannes Ghebreyesus, who studied hotel management and culinary arts and gained extensive experience in my American city of California. And Lyon of France, along with Lebanese chef Barbara Massad, a cookbook author, photographer, and chef specializing in Middle Eastern dishes.

From Canada, the exhibition welcomes Chef Suzanne Al-Husseini, who participated in a number of Arab and international television programs and programs such as “Top Chef Middle East,” and wrote a number of best-selling cookbooks, including “When Susan Cooks” and “Modern Arabic Flavors,” in addition to To Sally Butcher, from the United Kingdom, a chef, cookbook author, and owner of the Persopolis store and restaurant, along with Suresh Pillai, from the United Kingdom, an Indian chef who participated in the “MasterChef” program and owner of the “Shiv Pillai” restaurant chain.

As part of the exhibition’s activities, the “Culinary Corner” hosts Chef Irina George, from Romania, winner of the James Beard Award, and author of the book “Carpathia: Food from the Heart of Romania,” which was nominated by the UK Cookbook Guild for the short list for the best international cookbook. The exhibition will also welcome Chef Krish Ashok from India, author of the book “Masala Lab: The Science of Indian Cooking,” which is one of the best-selling books on the Amazon platform.

Participating from South Korea are chefs Kim Kyung-min, who lives in the UAE and specializes in preparing light and healthy dishes, and is the author of the book “The Vegetable Table” for vegetarian recipes, along with Kim Joo-hyun, who offers courses on healthy Korean desserts and rice cakes, and finally, Chef Mariana Livaditaki, From Greece, she is a recipe developer, cookbook author and storytelling expert.

The Sharjah International Book Fair allows visitors to its 42nd session to obtain the best cookbooks, which include various recipes for the most famous international dishes and desserts, with the opportunity to have them signed by an elite group of the most famous male and female chefs in the world.
