Dubai is one of those cities that I can go to again and again. I still remember the first trip to Dubai, before which I dreamed so much about getting to this city! This was followed by a second and a third, which occurred very shortly before travel became difficult. Now that the world is open again, the fourth and fifth trips are coming together – we stop in Dubai for a few days on the way back and forth during another, slightly longer trip.
THE CHALLENGE OF THE FUTURE
We land in Dubai early Saturday morning, tired from the long journey, now longer as we have to fly around closed airspace. According to the pig law, our seats are in the last row, which means that there is a queue for the only economy class toilet all night long. When we get out of the airport with our luggage and two free SIM cards (all tourists who go through passport control get them), we find our “uber” and go to the hotel – we are so exhausted that we don’t even think about exploring the city. Fortunately, we are let into the room ahead of time, and for a completely ridiculous surcharge we also get a better class room, which turns out to be much bigger than the two of us can live in: two bedrooms, a huge living room with a kitchen, a balcony and two bathrooms! So the free bedroom becomes the ironing room, but we can take a bath at the same time – each to his own.
