First time at Apo Natthawin Wattanakitipat Collaborating with Be on Cloud is in a series of intense mafia stories. In “KinnPorsche: The Series” he plays a Porsche. The worldly older brother who works as a bartender to take care of his younger brother. but unwittingly plunge into a mafia world filled with intrigue, betrayal, murder and survival. It’s like the character has to step out of the gray world. and enters a completely black world, but in “Man Suang”, the second work together Both the characters and the character’s world are different from each other, just like different worlds.
In “Man Suang”, Apo has to play the role of Khem. Lived in the early Rattanakosin period Or to be clear, it is at the end of the reign of King Rama III, that Khem may be stubborn like a Porsche and want to have a better life. But Khem is a character that is somewhat of a whiter world. having innocence optimistic And while Porsche had to be forced to become a bodyguard for the mafia in order to promote their status Khem enters as a dancer in an entertainment venue with the same name as the movie title.
“Khem is a very soft person. And he’s a positive person all the time. Which Khem Nie is in the era of the end of the third reign and during this period there are only a few things that can move up the social strata. With ambition and love for dancing Khem then chose to dance to advance social class until he accidentally entered Man Suang. So he found another world that was amazing. It’s where people want to be anything. want to do anything So I’m very excited about this world. But this place completely changed Khmer’s life as well.” Apo recalled Khmer’s character in the production notes of the movie “Man Suang”.
But one of the difficulties of playing Khem is that he has to play a character in another era whose views and ideas are definitely different from people two hundred years later. That was Apo’s hard homework, trying to understand the character in order to portray it to be believable.
“I first interpreted how old the characters were, what kind of person they were, how they grew up, what the environment was like. And go back to what era he was in, what year, and in that era, what was the perspective of the people and the environment? then gradually Make this character Assuming that a person of this age, about 20 years old, has lived in the society of 200 years ago, he will be himself, it is very difficult. Plus being a commoner, so being yourself and moving up social class The chance is only 0.01%, so choose what he loves. That’s dancing.”
But the challenge to the script isn’t just about playing a period character. Getting the characters to have a roundness and dimension like they’ve never played before was another big challenge.
“When I first read the script for Man Suang. I admit that I’m excited and confused. because before I only play melodrama. which the melodrama is so good as the hero The evil villain is flawless. There is not much complexity of the characters. But after reading this chapter for the first time I feel that every character is similar to our life. Every character has his own needs. Even though he was doing something wrong. But there was another dimension that he just wanted to make the world a better place. And every character still wants to make the world better in their own perspective. Which when I read the script for the first time, I felt very wow. Plus being in a production like this, I’m happy and excited.”
Apo also shared how he prepared and did his homework for this most challenging role. “The first is to practice dancing. The second is to lose weight. The third point is to try to read about the end of the third reign as much as possible, to study what the social environment of that era was like. How does he live each day? And then we continue to imagine that if we were born to live like this what kind of life to live This is what you need to prepare. The rest is preparing the mental state to be ready, practicing meditation, which is the hardest thing. it will be in terms of chapters because of filming That is, we have to play as he wrote in the script. How did the script come about, we have to do that. And then we figured out the character’s needs. how to reach what the chapter wants This is difficult. And plus the language spoken, it’s difficult. Well, it’s very difficult to improvise. And we’re not fluent with the language either, so we have to memorize the script very accurately. It’s like every party has to do their own homework. That is, care about yourself very hard, difficult, difficult.”
Apo also shared his impressions of working with this massively-produced movie. “The staff chose people who were real actors. and really fits the role So it allows me to tell the character’s mellowness. and then put them together Both the storyline looks interesting. both different characters But there is a high level of humanity. Makes the movie more interesting.
more than that Is the beauty of the production that the research team came from. It’s really beyond our imagination. expectation part I hope this movie will go to film festivals around the world. I want to go wherever I can. I want the whole world to come see this movie together.”
