Favorite festival around the world, last seen in Zurich: “É Noite na América”.

The Lausanne architectural film festival ‹Écrans urbains› will be a guest at Hochparterre Kino: On Saturday, April 20, we will show four exceptional films as special premieres at the Houdini cinema. Get your tickets now!

On Saturday, April 20, Hochparterre will present a selection of films from the popular Lausanne architecture film festival ‹Écrans urbains› at the Houdini cinema in Zurich. Since 2016, ‹Écrans urbains› has been bringing films about architecture, the city and the landscape to the big screen. As part of Hochparterre Kino, we are showing four outstanding films from this year’s festival edition as the first German-Swiss screening. There will also be a film discussion in the mezzanine and a video installation by the D-Arch Film Festival (DAFF) in the public spaces of the Houdini. Tickets are available now here available.

Highly recommended by the New York Times and The Guardian: “Dry Ground Burning,” a female gangster film like you’ve never seen before.

Two films approach the city of Brasília in an unexpected way: the dreamy film “É Noite na América” follows the search for wild animals that have escaped from the endangered jungle into the capital, while the electronic documentary film “Dry Ground Burning” associates itself with the bikers of a female motorcycle gang in the favelas of Brasília.

France’s Most Wanted Architect: A Documentary on the Fascinating Life of Fernand Pouillon

With the documentaries “Fernand Pouillon, l’architecte le plus recherché de France” and “…et Pierre Jeanneret” we continue to show two eye-opening portraits of important architects of the 20th century: one escaped the prison and became the largest. wanted the architect France on, the other was almost forgotten in the shadow of his famous cousin.

Who really built Chandigarh? “…et Pierre Jeanneret” is a cautious way of referring to the quiet cousin of the world famous architect.

Between the films about the work of Fernand Pouillon and Pierre Jeanneret in Chandigarh, a conversation with Michaela Türtscher and Jürg Gasser takes place. Michaela Türtscher is an architect and researcher Fernand Pouillon, Jürg Gasser is a photographer who photographed Chandigarh in 1968, 1971 and 2014 and was the director of the Heidi Weber House (Centre Le Corbusier) in the 1970s.

In collaboration with the D-Arch Film Festival (DAFF), we are also showing a loop with videos from architecture students. The video installation can be seen throughout the evening.
