Ground Control for Major Tom: The Franklin Institute takes you to the edge of the universe — and your imagination — with an immersive new space exhibit.
A massive centerpiece exhibition for all ages, Amazing Space invites you to peer into the future and explore outer space through interactive displays, immersive simulations, innovative new technology and cosmic artifacts.
Installations explore topics ranging from space careers to the search for habitable worlds.
The new Amazing Space exhibit at The Franklin Institute opens on Saturday, November 4, 2023.

Amazing Space covers 7,500 square feet between the Fels Planetarium and the Holt & Miller Observatory and consists of two distinct experiences on two floors.
The lower levels immerse you in the vastness of space with live simulations that allow you to witness celestial phenomena and manipulate the forces of nature. One of the interactive stations, Rover Design, lets you design and test your own space rover.
The top tier takes a broader look at the galaxy by focusing on the future of life in space and some of the most interesting questions in the universe. The floor also displays the latest equipment and techniques, rising stars in the aerospace industry, careers in space exploration, and various space-related artifacts (including two lunar rovers and a 10-foot-long rocket engine).

The Franklin Institute is complementing the launch of this (inter)stellar exhibition with a series of space-related public programs, including the Curious Cosmos with Derrick Pitts podcast, the opening of Luke Jerram’s Mars touring artwork (November 2-19, 2023) and the reopening of the already established Holt & Miller Observatory fixed (November 4, 2023).
Amazing Space is the first of six thematic exhibitions planned at The Franklin Institute. Future exhibitions will explore topics such as the human body, earth systems, and robotics.
