Prospect Park is an urban park in the Brooklyn borough of New York.
It encompasses the neighborhoods of Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Flatbush and Windsor Terrace, and is located adjacent to the Brooklyn Museum, Grand Army Plaza and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.
Spanning 526 acres, Prospect Park is the second largest public park in Brooklyn, behind Marine Park, and was designated a New York City Scenic Landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
One of the most popular attractions is the Prospect Park carousel.
Located in the children’s corner of the park, the carousel has 53 horses that ride alongside a lion, a giraffe, a deer and two chariots pulled by dragons.
It is one of the very few wheelchair accessible carousels in the entire country. And it remains a popular destination for birthday parties and other special events.
Prospect Park has several attractions and places to enjoy year-round, from the warm summer months to the cold winter months.
