Approaching migration and education
According to the participants, the CDU, BSW and SPD had previously come closer together in the third exploratory round. Among other things, the topics of education and migration were discussed. According to the CDU, for example, there is agreement on centrally accommodating refugees with no prospects of staying in the state’s own accommodation and thus enabling faster deportation.
In migration policy, among other things, there was talk about the closure of the state’s initial reception center for refugees in Suhl and the creation of more accommodation places by the state. The establishment of a central immigration authority in Thuringia was also discussed.
SPD state deputy leader Katharina Schenk said with regard to education policy that her party was pushing for free lunch in kindergartens and schools. Here she heard the approval of the coalition partners – according to Schenk literally. The co-chair of the BSW, Steffen Schütz, spoke of a basic consensus that there must be changes in education policy. CDU politician Bühl stated that his goals were to reduce the number of lessons canceled in Thuringia and to alleviate the shortage of staff in schools.
On Tuesday evening, the CDU, BSW and SPD also want to talk about the topics of internal security and health.
