“This morning at 4:30 a.m. I was at the stock market. My car was loaded with 20 cartons of self-produced lettuce. No one wanted to give me more than 80 centimes for a piece, even though they were big and weighed more than 600 grams. I resigned myself. It’s better to sell them than to return them. I got home at 6 o’clock and my daughter and I went to Plovdiv. And what did I see – my lettuces were sold at one of the markets for BGN 1.60 each. I recognized them by the carton and by the way of packing in the nylon”.
This is what producer Elena Ivanova from the village of Chalakovi told “24 Chasa”. But once again she feels robbed by the traders. Everyone involved in vegetable production is like her.
“I have two greenhouses – a total of 5,000 lettuces. I grew each root from a seed. I bent and stood up 5,000 times to plant them at the beginning of October. And now I bend to the ground as many times to pluck them and arranged them. And the merchants neither bought seeds, nor planted, nor gave money for preparations, nor watered, nor bent down and stood up,” Ivanova lamented.
He says that the most affected are manufacturers and end users. According to her, it is proper, since the lettuces are being bought en masse at the moment at 80 cents a piece, that they should be sold on the market for no more than BGN, BGN and twenty.
“We will never get better. There is an agreement between the traders not to buy for more than the price they have set. This is the case at the stock exchanges in Plodovitovo and Parvenets. However, there are even more impudent ones. I asked them if they came to the village to they take them directly from the yard, how much will they pay. They answered me 40-45 cents per piece. But what happened today at the market when she pulled out her phone to take a picture of her lettuce that she had sold hours earlier?
“My trade raised a bitter scandal. “Who gave you permission to take pictures? It can’t be like that! “Have you asked me,” she shouted at the top of her voice, Ivanova said.
She hoped to be able to sell her goods for at least a leva. It went on the stock market a week ago. On the first day alone, they bought 100 lettuces for BGN, and the remaining 100 for 90 cents. From the second day onward, the traders cut off: 80 and not a cent more!
