Exploding PMN in BUMN: Minister Erick Thohir Addresses Surprising Capital Participation Increase

BUMN Minister Erick Thohir opened up about the explosion in state capital participation (PMN) for BUMN around 2020 to 2021. Erick admitted that he and his subordinates did not expect this.

Erick said the PMN blast happened mostly in BUMN Karya which was working on infrastructure projects. He admitted that he had not received any information from the party that was in charge of the BUMN Ministry before.

“When we went in, we still didn’t know how much PMN, how much or what, so if we look at 2020-2021 there will be an explosion in PMN. short-term loans were used for long-term projects,” said Erick when he met at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), East Jakarta, Sunday (5/5/2024).

Therefore, he said that his party is currently very open to issues regarding PMN and shares. One way is to announce this before the DPR.

“Yesterday I had my last RDP with the DPR to talk about PMN and next year’s shares. Yes, with this, whoever replaces us will see whoever we are. Oh, it was this was a job the year before,” said Erick.

Apart from the PMN blast, Erick also admitted that he was surprised when there were cases of corruption in BUMN, such as in Jiwasraya and Asabri. He said that this had been going on for a long time and was only revealed when he took office.

“Not to mention that the interventions we made, such as the Jiwasraya and Asabri corruption cases, were never planned and the cases date back to 2006,” said Erick.

Erick admitted that he did not want to blame some parties when he talked about how he was surprised by the problems that happened at BUMN when he took office. He just wants these issues to become introspective so that all parties can work together better.

“I made this statement without blaming anyone, but it is up to us to look in. How can we be better,” Erick explained.
