Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Number of Covid-19 infections in Singapore It’s getting close to 2,000 infections per day. On Sunday (9/26/2021), the Lion Country reported 1,939 cases of Covid-19, accompanied by two additional deaths in the last 24 hours.
Of the total infections, 1,934 cases were cases of local transmission while the other five cases were imported infections. Detailing the number of local cases, 1,536 were community cases and 398 cases came from clusters of dormitory residents.
For deaths, the two reported deaths were elderly people who had not been vaccinated. The two, aged 97 and 69 years, were also reported to have congenital or comorbid diseases.
With these additional cases, Singapore has reported a total of 87,892 cases of Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic, accompanied by 78 deaths.
This explosion of infections alone has overwhelmed the Covid-19 response in the country. This can be seen from the handling of positive patients who are quarantined at home. Where many patients have not received immediate treatment since announcing positive cases.
“The spike in cases has caused delays and we ask for your patience and understanding. We are streamlining our operations and will contact you as soon as possible,” Singapore’s Ministry of Health said in response to media inquiries citing Channel News Asia.
Meanwhile, the competent authorities also adopted a regulation on tightening public mobility which came into effect today (27/9/2021). The regulation itself regulates visitor restrictions in public places such as schools, offices, restaurants, and visits to residences.
“While doing so may not immediately reduce the number of new infections each day, it will allow us to slow the spread and avoid burdening our health workers,” said Gan Kim Yong, deputy chairman of the multi-ministerial Covid-19 task force.
For schools in the age group 12 years and under, face-to-face meetings are omitted. For ages 12 and over, they are allowed with a minimum capacity, although the government still recommends teaching and learning activities to be carried out online.
Then, in the office, the authorized official appealed for activities to be carried out online as much as possible. If required to work, people are asked to do a Covid-19 test before entering work.
For restaurants, the government allows a maximum of two people who have been vaccinated for one table. However, in a dining area in the form of a food court, a maximum of two people at the table are allowed without the condition that they need to be vaccinated.
Furthermore, for visits to residences, the authorities only allow one visit in a day. During the visit, a maximum of two guests are allowed.
