Despite his forecast, the heating bill will not reach BGN 1,000 per month, economist Evgeniy Kanev believes.
“We are one of the few countries in Europe where business subsidizes consumers. This is a social policy that will not change. This price is speculation, “Kanev said.
According to experts, the long-term solution is to switch to liquefied natural gas.
“In the last three months, however, the government has done nothing to ensure real diversification of natural gas supplies. It is not true that we were ready for such scenarios from January to February. “Vladimirov believes, according to which Bulgaria should have signed a long-term contract with another company for 2022 for the supply of natural gas.
Asked whether it was possible for our gas storage in Chiren to be filled in advance in January and February, experts say there was such an alternative.
“M.We also wanted to import liquefied natural gas to fill the gas storage, this would have been an additional expense, but at least today we would not be making deals from today to tomorrow, in which there is a conflict of interest and we are again 90% dependent on Russian gas“, Vladimirov explained.
“This was done by Poland, Romania and Hungary,” he added.
